Doctor
Dr. Jack Sexton , D.V.M.
Dr. Jack Sexton is the director of McLean Animal Hospital. He and Dr. Stork purchased the practice from Dr. Charles Patton in 1993.
Dr. Sexton is a native of Northern Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Master of Science in Veterinary Science from the University of Maryland. He graduated from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978 and joined McLean Animal Hospital as an associate in 1979.
Dr. Sexton has served as president of both the Northern Virginia and the Virginia Veterinary Medical Associations. He has served as a member of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter Advisory Committee and is a volunteer at that shelter. In addition, he has supported various rescue and humane groups in their efforts to further animal welfare.
The Sextons share their home with three dogs and a cat.
Dr. Stephen Stork , D.V.M.
Dr. Stephen Stork is the co-owner of McLean Animal Hospital.
Dr. Stork has been a resident of McLean since 1966. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Virginia and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech in 1986, joining McLean Animal Hospital as an associate after graduation. His special interests include running, golfing, and skiing. He also throughly enjoys participating in his children's school and after school activities. His wife, Ellen, is also a veterinarian. The Storks share their home with three cats, a cockatoo and 2 dogs.
Dr. Kate Salkeld , D.V.M.
Dr. Kate Salkeld was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey but raised in Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of Georgia and joined the McLean Animal Hospital after graduation in 2002. She shares her home with two dogs and two cats. Dr. Salkeld just recently purchased her first home and is enjoying it. Also in 2007, Dr. Salkeld began volunteering with Alley Cat Allies spay and neuter clinics.
Dr. Andrea Ballou , D.V.M.
Dr. Andrea Ballou grew up in East Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Oklahoma State University. She then continued to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri. After spending 3 years at an animal hospital in North Carolina, she relocated to Virginia and joined McLean Animal Hospital in 2003. Her special interests in Veterinary Medicine include behavioral problems and ultrasound. She and her husband, Howard, share their home with two dogs and two cats. And in her spare time she does adventure races.
Dr. Connie Shang , D.V.M. Dr. Connie Shang joined the McLean Animal Hospital staff in June 2004. She grew up in Oklahoma and also spent time in Japan for a few years. Dr. Shang majored in biochemistry at the University of Texas and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A & M University in May 2004. She shares her home with one cat and one dog.
Dr. Eric Cryan , D. V. M. Dr. Eric Cryan joined McLean Animal Hospital Staff in February 2005! He was raised in the area and attended high school at Thomas Jefferson. He recieved his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in biology, with a minor in history. After recieving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech in 2002, he practiced in Greenwich, Connecticut while his wife, Alicia, attended law school. Currently, Dr. Cryan and Alicia share their home with two cats, Lydia and Sicily, and their new dog Bliss. Bliss is a yellow, Labrador-Golden Retriever mix they adopted who didn not make the cut as a guide dog, but is a great addition to their family. Dr. Cryan enjoys sports, traveling, and hiking with his dog. Dr. Cryan and Alicia were delighted to welcome their first son Cashel, on January 12, 2009. and mom and son are doing great!
Dr. Anne Todd Hodgdon , D.V.M. Dr. Anne Todd Hodgdon graduated from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine May of 2008. We are delighted to have her join our staff.
Management
Susan Claflin , Practice Manager
Susan began working in the animal health care field in the mid seventies in north central California. After moving to Virginia and working for five years in a feline practice, Susan began working at McLean Animal Hospital in September 1994. She began as a receptionist, then office manager, and for the past few years as the practice manager. Susan has a Certificate in Veterinary Practice Administration from AAHA , Perdue University.
She shares her home two cats. She has one daughter and two grandaughters who live in the area that she is very close to. Susan enjoys anything canine or especially feline. Loves container gardening, cooking, movies and reading.
Curtiss Fitzgerald , Operations Manager
Curtiss Fitzgerald is a native Washingtonian. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from Texas A & M University, where he also played football. He began working at McLean Animal Hospital as a receptionist in 1998 and is now our Operations Manager. He is an avid weightlifter, winning the light heavyweight title for the Musclemania 2003 competition. He also enjoys teaching martial arts in his spare time. He and his wife, Kia had their first baby, Bianca in 2007. They share their home with two dogs and two cats.
Kristy Black Kristy joined McLean Animal Hospital in Sept. of 2007 as the evening manager. Kristy has had experience working as a hospital director of a Banfield Animal Hospital. Kristy shares her home with her two canine buddies.
Technician Reception
Genie LaRouche , Front Desk Receptionist, Part Time Genie originally worked at McLean Animal Hospital in February 1991 to 1996. She rejoined our regular part time staff in August 2002.
Lorna Wilbur , Front Desk Receptionist Lorna began working at McLean Animal Hospital in 2000 as a client service representative. Lorna's hobbies are but not limited to cooking, gardening and she is an excellent artist.
Leah Marshall , Front Desk Receptionist Leah began working at McLean Animal Hospital in 2002 for a short period of time and returned in May 2003.
Bill Shoemaker , Front Desk Receptionist ...check back soon...
Laura McNesse Laura began working at McLean Animal Hospital in September 2007. She is currently attending school to get her Associates degree in equine sales and management. Her hobbies include riding horses, painting and drawing. Laura shares her home with three cats and a husband.

Mrs. Monica Corredor , Kennel Supervisor Monica has been our Kennel Manager for the last four and a half years. Monica shares her home with a husband and two teenage sons.
Grooming Assistants
Jann Shoemaker Jann is currently enrolled in an online Vet-Tech program. Jann has been a member of our staff since October of 2003.
Sarah Voss Sarah is an assitant who is entering the Vet-Tech program at NOVA--Loudoun Fall 2007.
