Our Staff
Doctor
Jack Sexton , D.V.M.
Dr. Jack Sexton is the director of McLean Animal Hospital. He and Dr. Stork purchased the practice from Dr. Charles Patton in 1993.
Dr. Sexton is a native of Northern Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Master of Science in Veterinary Science from the University of Maryland. He graduated from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978 and joined McLean Animal Hospital as an associate in 1979.
Dr. Sexton has served as president of both the Northern Virginia and the Virginia Veterinary Medical Associations. He has served as a member of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter Advisory Committee and is a volunteer at that shelter. In addition, he has supported various rescue and humane groups in their efforts to further animal welfare.
The Sextons share their home with three dogs.
Stephen Stork , D.V.M.
Dr. Stephen Stork is the co-owner of McLean Animal Hospital.
Dr. Stork has been a resident of McLean since 1966. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Virginia and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech in 1986, joining McLean Animal Hospital as an associate after graduation. His special interests include running, golfing, and skiing. He also throughly enjoys participating in his children's school and after school activities. His wife, Ellen, is also a veterinarian. The Storks share their home with two cats, a cockatoo and 2 dogs and one son and one daughter.
Kate Salkeld , D.V.M.
Dr. Kate Salkeld was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey but raised in Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of Georgia and joined the McLean Animal Hospital after graduation in 2002. She shares her home with three dogs and two cats. Dr. Salkeld just recently purchased her first home and is enjoying it. Also in 2007, Dr. Salkeld began volunteering with Alley Cat Allies spay and neuter clinics.
Dr. Anne Todd Hodgdon , D.V.M. Dr. Anne Todd Hodgdon graduated from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine May of 2008. We are delighted to have her join our staff.
Tyler J. Anderson , D.V.M. We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Tyler Anderson joined McLean Animal Hospital June 20, 2011 as an associate veterinarian. Dr. Anderson is a 2011 graduate of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, He grew up in the Arlington area where he still has close family ties. Dr. Anderson shares his home with a kitty named Boo and a lab mix named Leo. More info on Dr. Anderson to come.
John O. Wesson , DVM Dr. John Wesson joined the McLean Animal Hospital staff in July 2011. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard and graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, he was a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot. He and his wife, Andrea, have a son, a daughter, and three eccentric cats. They are glad to be living near their family in Northern Virginia.
Management
Susan Claflin , Practice Manager
Susan began working in the animal health care field in 1975 in northern California. In September of 1994 she began working at McLean Animal Hospital . She started as a receptionist, then office manager, and since 2005 as the practice manager. Susan has a Certificate in Veterinary Practice Administration from AAHA , Perdue University. She shares her home two cats, the older boy named Mouser, and the youngest named Eblis as well as a recent adoption of a 4 year old dachshund named Charlie (aka Shorty). Susan has one daughter and two grandaughters, one who lives in the area and one in Idaho. Besides her love of animals and animal related causes she loves container gardening, cooking, movies, music, reading, and hopes to start doing alot of traveling.
Curtiss Fitzgerald , Operations Manager
Curtiss Fitzgerald is a native Washingtonian. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from Texas A & M University, where he also played football. He began working at McLean Animal Hospital as a receptionist in 1998 and is now our Operations Manager. He is an avid weightlifter, winning the light heavyweight title for the Musclemania 2003 competition. He also enjoys teaching martial arts in his spare time. He and his wife, Kia had their first baby, Bianca in 2007. They share their home with two dogs and two cats.
Kristy Black , PM Manager Kristy joined McLean Animal Hospital in Sept. of 2007 as the evening manager. Kristy has had experience working as a hospital director of a Banfield Animal Hospital. Kristy shares her home with her two canine buddies.
Cheryl Laughlin , L.V.T, Treatment Manager Cheryl is a Northern Virginia native who graduated from NOVA's Veterinary Technology program in 2002. She worked at Cherrydale Veterinary Clinic while in school and became their Head LVT when she graduated. In 2003 she started All Your Pet Needs, a small pet sitting business based in Arlington. She came to us in March 2005 and now runs our treatment area and manages our LVTs and Assistants. Cheryl shares her home with 2 dogs, 2 cats, and an african gray parrot.
Technician
Marco Cifuentes , L.V.T Marco joined our team in June of 2009.
Liz Myrick , L.V.T. Liz joined our team in July of 2009 and is our PM LVT. She currently has 3 dogs and 4 cats.
Tiffany Stueben , LVT Tiffany has alwyas been passionate about helping animals and one day she saw a commercial for a Veterinary Technology Education program. She signed up the next day and says it was the best decision she ever made! She graduated from Utah Career College in West Jordan, UT in December of 2008. She relocated to the Nothern Virginia area in March 2010 and starting working for us shortly after. Some of her other interests are snowboarding, photography and music. She one days hopes to manage a treatment staff in a successfull practice and to continue learning and perfecting her skills as an L.V.T. All of Tiffany's immediate family still live in Utah along with 7 Neices and nephews. Tiffany shares her home here with 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Reception
Genie LaRouche , Front Desk Receptionist, Part Time Genie originally worked at McLean Animal Hospital in February 1991 to 1996. She rejoined our regular part time staff in August 2002.
Leah Marshall , Front Desk Receptionist Leah began working at McLean Animal Hospital in 2002 for a short period of time and returned in May 2003.

Fabiola Saavedra Fabiola has been working as a receptionist at McLean Animal hospital since November 2007. Fabiola is bilingual in English and Spanish. She loves working with animals and with people who love their animals. She shares a home filled with dogs, birds, a mother, a father, and a husband.
Justin Martin
Marie Kim Marie joined our team late December 2010. She joined us with great communication skills and is a delight to be around.
Giovanni Villalba We are happy to have Giovanni as one of our evening receptionist. He comes to us with a lot of customer service experience and a huge love of animals. ore on him later.
Kennel
Edwin Contreras Edwin is our evening kennel supervisor, he has been with us since March of 2007. He is also a part time student at NOVA.
